Given their congregate nature and resident population served (e.g., older adults often with underlying chronic medical conditions), nursing home populations are at the highest risk of being affected by COVID-19. If infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, residents are at increased risk of serious illness.

Given the high risk of spread once COVID-19 enters a LTCF, facilities must act immediately to protect residents, families, and staff from serious illness, complications, and death.

The following Strategies, SSS Partners in Protection, was developed In lieu of recent changes in guidelines, calling for increased Infection Control Guidance, Cleaning and Disinfection Performance and Integration of New Auditing Controls to regulate cleaning efficacy.

These strategies, coincided with the SSS Collaborative Cleaning Concepts, which are fostered on the helping Long Term Care Facilities across the country, provide a Clean and Healthy Facility for Residents, Families and Staff.

The Triple S Partners in Protection Program consists of three modules. Establish for Protection, Educate for Protection and Inspect for Protection.

The Triple S Partners in Protection Program and Collaborative Cleaning Concepts are designed to provide guidance to Long Term Care providers on how to prepare for new or newly evolved Infectious diseases whose incidence in humans has increased or threatens to increase in the near future and that has the potential to pose a significant public health threat and danger of infection to the Residents, Families and Staff of the skilled nursing center.
