National Nurses Week
National Nurses Week
May 6, 2025 - May 12, 2025
National Nurses Week in 2025 will be celebrated from May 6–12. This week-long celebration begins on National Nurses Day which is May 6.
National Nurses Week is a time to recognize the contributions of nurses and their impact on society. The week honors the legacy of Florence Nightingale, an English social reformer who is considered the founder of modern nursing. The first Nurses Week in the United States was held in 1954, and President Nixon declared it National Nurses Week in 1974. The American Nurses Association (ANA) expanded the holiday in 1990 to include the week of Nightingale’s birthday.
